Sallanches holds a unique position: a town of more than 17,000 inhabitants, offering one of the finest panoramas of the Mont-Blanc massif, and serving as a gateway to Chamonix and the major resorts. It combines permanent homes, second homes and a strong tradition of mountain craftsmanship.

This mix drives varied demand for a project manager: chalet construction and timber frame houses, major renovation of old buildings, extensions and adding a storey, as well as energy renovation of housing exposed to the winters of the Sallanches basin. The town centre, rebuilt after the fire of 1840 on a Sardinian-influenced grid plan, has a Savoyard neoclassical heritage that deserves careful work.

We carry out these projects as project manager or turnkey general contractor, with our in-house teams and a site manager on hand throughout, from our office in Aix-les-Bains.

Building in the Pays du Mont-Blanc involves real requirements: snow loads, reinforced insulation, materials suited to the climate, and an architectural style governed by the Sallanches local plan (PLU) and the rules of the Pays du Mont-Blanc community of municipalities. The Savoyard chalet, in timber and stone, remains the reference, but contemporary architecture has its place when it respects the site.

The construction window is also a factor in mountain areas: a good schedule anticipates climatic constraints to deliver on time. That is the role of a project manager who genuinely coordinates the trades.

On the energy side, our RGE CertiRénov certification gives access to grants (MaPrimeRénov', CEE, éco-PTZ zero-interest loan) for renovating buildings that are often energy-hungry. We prepare the application with you, and with your Accompagnateur Rénov' (renovation advisor) for major renovations.

In Sallanches, the constraint and the asset are one and the same: the site. The view of the Mont Blanc range orients the projects, snow loads govern the structure, and the planning code frames the appearance of buildings more strictly than on flat ground.

What the mountain imposes. Snow loads at the altitude of the project, roof pitch and overhangs, handling of meltwater, durability of exposed elevations. The Loi Montagne also governs development in continuity with existing settlements, and areas covered by a natural risk prevention plan impose their own construction rules.

Do you need an architect? Compulsorily above 150 m² of total floor area after the works. Below that it is a choice — and it is justified above all by the quality of the relationship with the site: orientation, framing of the view, winter solar gain and summer protection, sitting on the natural ground rather than on an imported platform.

We work in Sallanches on both design and construction, with our own teams, for new chalets as well as renovation. Our managing partner is a state-qualified architect (French DEA degree): the project is drawn by the person who will then follow it on site.
